What does a burst refer to in burst SDRAM?

What is a burst? So is a burst the same thing as a page mode DRAM. So you first sequence an RAS, followed by a CAS. Since you get the entire row when you use the RAS, you can get subsequent bits in the row by pulsing the CAS. So if I want 4 bits I can pulse the CAS 4 times. Is that what a burst refers to? So a 4-bit burst read is the same thing as pulsing the CAS 4 times? What exactly is a burst?
