Does child bearing oppress woman?

Would female liberation be easier if it was no longer necessary for woman to bear children? it seems to me that woman can never reach a level of autonomy and personal freedom (similar to what men possess), because they are always constrained by the burden of having to bear children and raise them. maybe one day science will make it possible that children can be born artificially, thereby relieving woman of this task. what do woman think about this, and is it desirable?
