Why do americans think they won the war almost single handedly? russia did 90% of the fighting...?

Our schools left out a lot of information on Russia as they were our enemy during the cold war. It's a shame too the Ruskies had some excellent tales of courage, cunning & wit. As for the rest Americentricism explains it best.
